Two Incredible Jazz Shows with Two Incredible Jazz Hosts

The Classic Jazz Hour can be aired as an alternative to "The A List" and "Strumming" because it includes both of those shows in 30-minute installments. The hour starts off with "Strumming" hosted by jazz guitarist Ross Morgan who looks at the great jazz guitar players of our time. Ross shares his love for jazz guitar, selecting his favorite guitar tracks while providing us with fascinating backstories about the artists and their music.

The second half of the show features "The A List with John Armato" highlighting the best in classic, cool and up-and-coming jazz. John is a veteran jazz drummer from Kansas City now based in California whose debut album “The Drummer Loves Ballads” received international airplay and wide critical praise. “A List” is shorthand for the best of the best, but it's also short for “The Armato List” – John’s personal pick of legendary jazz greats, outstanding lesser-known artists, and exciting emerging voices.

Strumming Host Ross Morgan

Ross is a jazz guitarist, arranger and composer from Ottawa, Canada who released his debut EP, Migration, in 2022. Ross continues to perform at various venues in Toronto, Ottawa and elsewhere.

The A List Host John Armato

John is a prominent percussionist, songwriter and producer from Kansas City who has worked with the legendary Ink Spots and the Platters. His album The Drummer Loves Ballads was released in 2022.

All of our radio shows are unique in that they're hosted by accomplished and practicing jazz artists. This gives the shows the credibility and attention they deserve. Both Ross and John have been on the jazz scene for years and have worked with many other seasoned professional musicians. As a result, they can provide "insider" commentary on the artists and music we all love.
